Cesar Jung-Harada

Director, Makerbay

Cesar Jung-Harada is a French-Japanese Inventor, environmentalist and entrepreneur who is currently developing "Protei" – a revolutionary shape shifting sailing robot to explore and protect the ocean with open source technologies.

Cesar won the FastCompany 2015 Most Innovative 10 Companies in China title, StartMeUp HK Grand Award 2014, GOOD100 2014,Gulfstream Navigator Award 2012, TED Senior Fellow 2011, ARS Electronica Golden Nica [NEXT IDEA] (Austria) 2009. Cesar worked at MIT as project leader (USA), construction manager of the *iHub_ Nairobi (Kenya) used to teach Masters of “Design and Environment” at Goldsmiths University (UK). 

He holds an MA from Design Interactions Department at the Royal College of Arts London and an MA from ENSAD Paris.

 

 

Abbie Jung

Co-founder, Synergy Social Ventures

Abbie is a public health and development professional with over 12 years of experience working with international aid and development agencies such as Médecins Sans Frontières, Save the Children, International Rescue Committee, Population Services International and the World Health Organization. Abbie served as the first Chief Investment Officer at Sow Asia Foundation, a Hong Kong-based venture philanthropy foundation. She is a strong advocate of philanthropy, philanthropic investment and social entrepreneurship as innovative tools to achieve sustainable development goals.

As Asia Regional Director of Nexus, she creates collaborative communities of socially conscious and active young leaders and convenes a range of events around philanthropy, impact investing and social entrepreneurship in the region. Abbie is on the Organizing Committee of the Philanthropy in Asia Summit and also spearheaded the establishment of the East and Southeast Asia Chapter of the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs. She is a +SocialGood Connector and is a member of Grand Challenges Canada’s Peer Review Committee for Global Mental Health.

She earned a bachelor’s degree in Neurobiology from University of California at Berkeley and a master’s in Population and Family Health from Columbia University.

 

 

Jana Svedova, Co-Founder

Co-founder, Synergy Social Ventures

Jana has a professional background in the financial industry in wealth management and business banking, which inspired her interest in socially focused business. She worked as Investment Manager for one of Asia’s first impact investments funds based in Hong Kong, conducting due diligence on investment opportunities and providing post investment support to ventures throughout Southeast Asia and China.

Recognizing the need for more support for young social ventures in the region Jana co-founded Synergy Social Ventures, a San Francisco and Hong Kong based nonprofit organization that supports the development of the social venture sector of the region. She has worked with entrepreneurs in Asia and North America providing capacity building support and advisory and with philanthropists on developing philanthropic investment strategies.

Jana is currently Director, Impact Investing, at the Centre for Social Innovation & Impact Investing at the Sauder School of Business at the University of British Columbia. She holds a BA in International Relations and an MBA from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada.
