Piko Poon, MakerBay Foundation Program Officer

Program Officer & Designer/Guitarist

Piko have Product design background, and graduated in HKDI, 2016. Piko worked in a design studio before joining Makerbay Foundation. Piko is passionate in woodworking, metalworking, CNC, 3D printing and guitar. Piko love using traditional hand tool and started to make his own tools recently.

Piko start his first woodwork project in 2014, learned from the internet, found that he need to learn more, and joined some Chinese traditional woodwork course later. After that, he became more addictive to making.

Piko always love music, especially Progressive metal, has a ABRSM grade 8 Classical guitar certify. Started to make his own music, and buy parts to build his first electric guitar to fulfill his sound.

Piko owned his first 3D print and CNC in 2017, learned by himself, started to make precision tools to help him to making. He also to learned metalwork at that time and make parts with aluminum.

He strongly believes that “Admiring the traditional - not knocking it, but wanting to know if it's possible to improve it in some way. “inspired by Greg Smallman, the innovative classical guitar  luthier, and thinks that traditional and technology should have a balance small.
